Successful???

" When we are given an assignment and it turns out wonderfully - but it isn't what the person assigning us the task communicated for us to do - is that success? First in the world around us, there are hundreds of people who appear to be successful by man's standards - fame, wealth, riches - but by God's standards are complete failures. They missed the mark. They aren't becoming what He intended for them to become.

If our desire in life is to obtain godly success, we must first get our assignment straight: what is God's will for our lives? God's will for everyone is to know Him and to develop a personal, intimate relationship with Him while becoming what He created each person to become. However, how that looks specifically in each person's life varies. For David, it meant growing in his relationship with God through the trials and struggles of becoming king of Israel. For Jonathan, it meant growing in his relationship with God through the tremendous sacrifice of yielding the throne to David.

Godly success looked different in both these men's lives, yet they both achieved it by following God's will. We establish ourselves as men and women of God if we are willing to hear-and obey-His will for our lives. It is the only way we can have true, godly success in our lives. It is the only way to measure success, if we are doing what He has asked. "

" No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I stand."
